As a part of our ongoing efforts to improve our API experience for properties and providers, we have updated the RoomRates endpoint.
We want you to get the most out of your partnership with us. That’s why we're collecting these articles that give connectivity partners like you more tips about our tools and features, as well as answers to commonly asked questions.
Continuing the API Modernisation project which we announced in November 2022 (read more about it here), we have launched a newer version of the RoomRates endpoint which is a part of the Room and Rate plan management API. Providers are requested to migrate to the new version before the deprecation date to continue using the services offered by the endpoint. Kindly read further to understand what these changes mean for you and the actions you need to take.
What is the RoomRates endpoint?
The RoomRates endpoint is a part of the Room and rateplan management API and it enables properties to create, update, retrieve and delete roomrates. Roomrates are a unique combination of room type and rate plans with conditions such as cancellation policies and meal plans.
What has changed in the endpoint?
The RoomRates endpoint v1.0 which you are currently using is now upgraded to version v1.1. The new version of this endpoint is already live and the improvements made over the existing v1.0 are as follows:
- It returns more detailed information for room rates (e.g. children prices, additional guests).
- It also has better latency.
What do you need to do to continue using it?
In order to continue using the endpoint without interruptions, you are required to:
- Start implementing the new endpoint, RoomRates v1.1, by passing the header ‘Accept-Version’ with the new version number 1.1 along with the existing URL.
- To learn more technical and implementation details about the updates, please refer to the RoomRates migration guide.
- Start sending ‘Hotel ID’ as it became a required field in a new version.
By when do you need to make these changes?
The older version, RoomRates v1.0 which you are already using will be deprecated on Dec 6 2023 so you have to migrate to the new version before this date:
- We will continue to support RoomRates v1.0 until 16 Dec 2023, 11:00 am CEST as a stabilisation period.
- After Dec 16 2023, RoomRates v1.0 will be sunset, so any updates sent using the old header v1.0 will return a ‘404 Not found error’
- Providers sending updates via RoomRates without a header will automatically be rerouted to a new version v1.1, i.e. start using a new version seamlessly.
What is the impact it will have on your properties?
These changes will not change the way the property uses your solution or Booking products and they can continue their operations without any disruptions during migration or after that.
